Horror books...... Are they really scary?

I'm actually pretty interested in books and I guess you all may be too! Sadly, My exams were going on so I wasn't able to post anything. Horror books are generally masterpieces if they are scary. If they aren't , they are pretty much useless. Most horror stories get scary only when you imagine them like the goosebumps series. I was reading a few goosebumps books recently but maybe they weren't good enough. But of course, they had more effect than the goosebumps show (which of course didn't make much sense) . Somehow I think books are more scarier than videos. Of course I haven't seen many of them but in the ones I have seen, nothing seemed to be scary at all! (Maybe it's because I've seen only one). Other horror books by Stephen King, Joe hill, etc.. Have a reputation of being scary but I haven't read any of them . But I hope to read them soon after my exams. But I think it's sort of easier to write horror stories than to write normal stories because, whenever I start with story writing in my class, in the end, it always turns out to be a horror story. Even my English teacher always says that in my class , half of the students in the examination wrote a horror story. They are only in the liking of few people and some people don't like it at all. Anyway I have to go and revise for my exam now, stay tuned, bye!  :-)
